Self & Society Initiative

The Self and Society Initiative brings scientists and clinicians together with those who work in philosophy, law, economics, and related fields for collaborative, interdisciplinary research. Under the auspices of Yale’s Wu Tsai Institute, the focus of the Initiative is to develop and explore an empirically grounded, clinically sourced understanding of the way the brain creates the self, and to link this to a wide range of ethical and policy issues. Our goal is to build a bridge between the science of the brain and the way we live in and experience the world, and use this bridge to enrich our understanding of the ethical and societal impacts of advances in neuroscience.
